Tigers Start 2025-26 Season 2-2
Marion, AL. – After their first four games of the 2025-26 season, the MMI men's basketball team sits at 2-2 with a game tonight at Southern Cresent Technical College. Here is a recap from each game:
Game 1 MMI 90 Northeast Mississippi CC 87
The Tigers took care of the home opener with five players finishing scoring in double figures. Daylen Burks led the Tigers with 27 points. Jamari Allen added 15 points off the bench. Christian Richards grabbed a team high 6 rebounds with Caleb Johnson; Richards scored 14 with Johnson adding 12. Andrew Johnson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points.
Kardi Tyler dished out a team high 12 assists with 6 points. Bryson Carter added three points.
Game 2 MMI 82 Northeast Mississippi 100
The Tigers could not complete the season sweep with NEMSCC as they took their first loss of the season. Burks once again led Marion with 21 points. Kardi Tyler dished out 9 assists with 15 points. Bryson Carter scored 15 points with 7 rebounds. Christian Richards added 11 points with 7 rebounds. Andrew Johnson grabbed a team high 8 rebounds with 9 points.
Also scoring for MMI was Caleb Johnson (9) and Jamari Allen (2).
Game 3 MMI 94 WSCC 123
Marion dropped their third game of the season at home to the Lions of Wallace State Community College with four Marion players finishing scoring in double figures. Burks paced the Tigers for the third time with 27 points. Andrew Johnson followed with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Kardi Tyler grabbed a team high 9 rebounds with 5 steals and 16 points. Caleb Johnson dished out 4 assists, scored 14 points, and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Also scoring for Marion was Christian Richards (5), Bryson Carter (8), Adrian Gilles (6), and Omar Thiam (3).
Game 4 MMI 101 Andrew College 91
The Tigers held on for their second win of the season with Daylen Burks (23 pts) and Caleb Johnson (21 pts., 5 assists) leading the way. Andrew Johsnon recorded his first double-double of the season; 19 points, 10 rebounds. Christian Richards rounded the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
Getting into the scoring column for MMI was Kardi Tyler (6 pts, 11 assists, 7 rbds), Bryson Carter (9), Lamari Allen (7), and Omar Thiam (5).
