MMI jumped out to a 6-1 lead, but the Wildcats of Bishop State clawed their way back and tied the game a 6-6 after four innings. With neither team scoring in the fifth inning, Marion added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alexandra Gray doubled to left field and Rebecca Roy, pinch hitting for Kyren Damon, singled over the short stop. Both runners advanced a base during Carlie Blanton's at-bat die to a wild pitch. Blanton hit a sac fly to score Gray and Damon scored on a wild pitch.

Bishop State tied the game back at 8-8 in the top half of the seventh inning and the Tigers couldn't take advantage of a lead-off walk by Destiny Brashears.

Rice got three quick outs in the top of the eighth inning before Marion came to the plate. Damon singled to centerfield with one out and stole second base to get herself into scoring position. Blanton walked and Katie Hopson singled, scoring Damon and securing the win.
