Williamson comes to MMI from the University of West Alabama where he had been the head coach of both programs the last two seasons.  Prior to his time in Livingston, Alabama, Williamson was the head coach at the University of Houston-Victoria in Texas since 2010 and started both the men's and women's programs. He has been a professional golfer and an international professional teacher for more than 25 years.

At UWA, Williamsons’ teams captured six (6) tournament wins with six (6) individual champions, to include the 2017 GSC Women’s Conference Champion (individual).  Ten (10) of his golfers were named Academic All-American.

Williamson's 2014 and 2016 UHV men's teams won the PGA Minority Championship NAIA Division and the women placed second in the college division. He has had the UHV men's program nationally ranked and has coached four PING all-region players. The women's program has also been nationally ranked with one All-American.

Under Williamson's guidance, the UHV programs have won 18 tournaments, four individual conference champions, four individual PGA Minority champions and 20 individual medalist titles. In 2015, the Jaguar women's team qualified for the NAIA National Championships, finishing 15th.

A graduate of the University of Texas (1982), Williamson played on the Longhorns golf team four years, including being a member of the 1981 Southwest Conference Championship team. Following his playing career, he served as a graduate assistant golf coach at Texas in 1982.
