Marion, AL. - The MMI Lady Tigers earned a home doubleheader sweep, defeating Itawamba Community College 3-2 and 8-7.  The two wins improve their record to 7-5.  The next scheduled doubleheader is Tuesday, February 19, at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Game 1: MMI 3 ICC 2

Itwamba took the lead back (3-4) in the top of the third inning after an error in Marion's outfield allowed extra runners to advance.  MMI started the bottom half of that inning with another hit by pitch but the runner was stranded, giving the visitors a one run advantage.

Sophomore Anna Claire relieved starting pitcher, Alex Reed, in the fourth inning and with two outs and the bases loaded, the Indians hit a double to deep right center field to score three more runs.  ICC led 7-3 going into the Lady Tigers' at-bat.  Morgan Gaither earned a walk with the bases loaded to add a run for Marion.  Madison Bubel singled in her next at-bat and Marion cut the lead to 7-5 after four innings.

Sophomore Lexi McCray relieved Gresham in the fifth inning and was able to strand runners on first and third for ICC.  Marion added a run in the sixth inning.  Morgan Dennis was hit by a pitch and Morgan Gaither earned a base hit. Madison Bubel attempted a bunt and an error by the infield allowed Dennis to score.

Down 7-6 with one at-bat remaining, the Lady Tigers were able to manufacture two runs to take the doubleheader sweep.  Whitney Edgecomb earned first base after being hit by the pitcher.  Morgan Gaither was walked intentionally which brought Kameron Hunt to the plate.  A hit off Hunt's bat caused an error by Itawamba and two runs were allowed to cross the plate.  Marion won 8-7.
